CONGRATULATIONS! Building the skills for the future

November 11, 2024 by Alistair Enser

The picture above shows some of our apprentices and trainee engineers celebrating the completion of their studies last week. Some have finished, some are nearly finished, and some have just started. Congratulations to all those who marked the successful completion of their training, and best of luck to those who have yet to finish!

As I have written in the past, there simply aren’t enough engineers in the security industry to keep up with demand. The skills that are required by integrators and installers are changing as deep knowledge of IT and networking becomes more important, and as an industry, we must adapt too.

This is why we are so keen to develop our people’s skills, whether new or existing. Our training and apprenticeship schemes form part of a wider talent management strategy within the business, so, for example, alongside the engineer programme, we also have trainees and apprentices in sales, admin, procurement and finance, to ensure we have the right skills now and for the future.

We strongly believe in equal opportunities, and with that in mind, we are working hard to bring a mix of views and experiences to our teams, whether different cultures, different ages or different genders. Some of our engineers come straight from college, while our latest recruit has come from the prison service. Previous re-trainees have also come from the military and telecoms. If you know someone with the right attitude, looking for an opportunity, then please encourage them to make contact on our careers page.

Having a continually developing and diverse workforce is essential to success because the technology and challenges that our industry relies on are changing rapidly and our customers are wide and varied.

With that in mind, if you haven’t already booked your place at our forthcoming Innovation and Technology Day, please register as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Delegate numbers for this event are strictly limited and entrance will be by pre-registered ticket only. If you would like to secure one of our final few tickets, or require further details of the full agenda and speaker list, please register your interest by emailing info@reliancehightech.co.uk.
