Looking to a New Year

April 27, 2024 by Alistair Enser

As I wrote last week Reliance High-Tech was a finalist in three categories in the recent Security and Fire Excellence Awards: the ‘Security Installer of the Year’ category, as well as the ‘Security Project of the Year’ and the ‘Champion of Champions’.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to retain our crown as Installer of the Year for a second year running, but we remain with heads held high, as an industry leader and as a finalist in very competitive categories.

We can’t win them all, and I would like to thank all our staff, business partners and of course customers for getting us to the final stages of these awards in not one, but three categories. We look forward to being back in the mix next year!

At the awards, I had the privilege of presenting the award for Distributor of the Year to the good people at ADI Global Distribution: many congratulations on your win, great photo!

I also had the opportunity to catch up with many new and existing contacts and listen to/debate some of the trends and challenges facing all of us in today’s fast changing environment.

With Christmas only a few weeks away, it won’t be long until we are planning for the New Year. Since lockdown a lot of our customers have embraced technological changes to obtain greater efficiency, reduce cost and add flexibility into their solutions. In doing so, the subject of the cloud as an enabling technology has become more and more popular in our conversations.

So, in support of that, we will be holding some Technology Days in the New Year around the subject of Cloud Innovation, starting in January in London.

These events, supported by a number of key industry experts, aim to educate audiences in a balanced way on the cloud, excite them to the possibility it offers, and dispel some of the myths around how it can be used within video, access control and electronic security. With the help of our audience and participants, we will explore not only opportunities, but also when it is not appropriate, or perhaps how hybrid models can be utilised.
